Preah Vihear
Preah Vihear is a province in northern Cambodia, bordering Thailand to the west and Laos to the north. Known for its rugged landscapes, forested hills, and important historical sites.
The province’s most famous attraction is the Preah Vihear Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This ancient Hindu temple sits dramatically on top of the Dangrek Mountains, right on the edge of the Cambodia-Thailand border. It offers not only stunning views but also deep historical and cultural significance, dating back to the 9th century Khmer Empire.
Other notable spots in the province include Kulen Prum Tep Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to rare species and rich biodiversity, and Koh Ker, a former capital of the Khmer Empire with over 180 temples scattered through the forest, less crowded than Angkor but just as impressive in its own way.
Preah Vihear appeals most to travelers looking for off-the-beaten-path experiences, ancient ruins, and untouched nature. It’s a place where history, and natural beauty all come together.
